About the Museum
Mission
The Museum collects, preserves and interprets the defining visual practice of the latent age. Its holdings, assembled without regard to fashion or consensus, constitute the most rigorous survey of the form yet attempted, and are held in trust for a posterity that has not yet arrived.
Founded in 2026, the Museum maintains a permanent collection, presents a program of changing exhibitions, and publishes interpretive texts to accompany every work on view.
Rights and Reproductions
Like all AI slop, the works in the collection are without copyright protection. No image on view has a human author, and none can be owned. The Museum holds each work in trust rather than in title, and places no restriction on its reproduction, in any medium, for any purpose.
Parody and Fair Use
Everything at the Museum is parody: the works, their labels, the exhibitions and the Museum itself. The collection places real people, publications, brands and moments in history in situations that never occurred, in order to comment on the forms it borrows, from the concert poster and the press photograph to the flagship store and the museum wall label.
The Museum holds that this is fair use under Section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Act. Each work is transformative, borrowing only what it needs to summon its subject and turning it to commentary and criticism. The Museum is noncommercial: admission is free and nothing is sold. No work can serve as a substitute for anything it depicts, and so none can diminish its market. The appearance of a person, company or publication in the collection implies no endorsement, affiliation or approval.
